Hungary: help Christians
A conference on 11-12 October sponsored by the government of Hungary released a joint declaration calling for international action to address the persecution of Christians.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, opened the conference and in his inaugural address spoke of how ‘the forced expulsion of Christian communities and the tragedies of families and children living in some parts of the Middle East and Africa have a wider significance: in fact they threaten our European values’.
HOW LONG HAVE WE GOT?
Freedom of the press is necessary for a healthy society.
The ability to report both incidents of anti-Christian persecution and the ideology motivating such attacks is central to what organisations like en and Barnabas Fund have done for many years.
Patrick Sookhdeo resigns
It was with great sorrow that the board of
trustees of Barnabas Aid International had
to announce the resignation of Dr Patrick
Sookhdeo as a
trustee of Barnabas Aid
International and
from his positions as
International Director
and CEO
of
Barnabas Fund as of 22 November.
They said that Dr Sookhdeo, who founded Barnabas Fund, had
led
it with zeal,
vision and integrity for 22 years. Their press
release explained: ‘We are immensely grieved
that current circumstances oblige him to
step down.’ On 23 February, Dr Sookhdeo
had been found guilty of sexually assaulting a female member of staff. However, close
friends have always expressed doubts about
the facts of the case.
