Italy: support
Alleanza Evangelica Italiana
On July 30, a delegation of the Italian
Evangelical Alliance met with Minister
Cécile Kyenge, Minister of Integration.
Congolese born, she is the first black minister of the Italian government, and has had
some exposure to the gospel. She has suffered
racist and sexist verbal abuses for her commitment towards the integration of the ‘new
Italians’. The evangelical delegation expressed
the solidarity of evangelicals and the commitment of their churches to be places of integration for peoples from different backgrounds.
She responded well to several initiatives that
were presented (e.g. on religious freedom),
promising her full support.
